Senior Years

Years 10 - 12

Albert Park College offers a three-year Senior Years program, providing students with the opportunity to begin their senior year studies in Year 10.

The three-year program is both challenging and inspiring, and allows students to undertake an extensive and refined study of their chosen curriculum area. This commitment increases their depth of knowledge and gives them an opportunity to flourish in their area of interest.

In Year 10, students are encouraged to undertake a VCE subject, giving them a valuable insight into the VCE process.

Albert Park College has a wide range of VCE and VET subjects offered in partnership with the Inner Melbourne VET Cluster (IMVC), and is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School. This allows students choice about their subject selection in their final years of schooling.

Before selecting their three-year program, students are provided with extensive counselling from within the school to assist them in making these important decisions. We encourage students to include their parents and community in these discussions, as support and understanding are crucial to Senior Years' success.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme

APC is an authorized IB World School and is proud to be only the second Victorian Government school to offer the IB Diploma Programme.

APC is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School and is proud to be the first Victorian Government school to offer the IB Diploma Programme.

Since its first students were enrolled in 2011, Albert Park College has had a focus on developing students who are independent thinkers and high achievers, good citizens prepared for life beyond school.

APC's agreed values align closely with those of the International Baccalaureate Organisation, making the IB Diploma Programme (DP) a perfect fit for its students.

Highly regarded by both Australian and international universities, the DP is recognised worldwide as an excellent tertiary preparatory course. Research suggests that there are many benefits to choosing the DP.

The programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.

Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)

The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is a recognised course of study that provides pathways for students into employment, TAFE and tertiary institutions. Students are assessed and ranked, and it is this Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR) that is required for university entrance.

The APC Senior Years Handbook provides information to assist students to help them plan their pathway by selecting combinations of subjects that lead to their intended career and post school studies.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a senior school study that enables students to combine their VCE studies with vocational training.

VET is usually a two-year program combining general VCE studies with accredited vocational education and training. It enables students to complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification and complete the VCE at the same time.

It provides the opportunity to trial a career and helps students explore possible areas of interest and promote further study and work choices.

All VET subjects offered at APC are done so in conjunction with the Inner Melbourne VET Cluster.
