Sports
APC offers a full range of sports. Our showcase programs are our sport academies which now promote sporting excellence in soccer, diving, basketball, netball, rowing, football, sailing and volleyball, and the list expands every year. Our champion athletes have represented Victoria in rowing, cricket and other sports. Our geographical location between the bay and the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) gives us a unique opportunity to compete in sports like rowing, sailing and lifesaving that are usually the preserve of private schools. Our new Lakeside Campus gives year-8 students a dedicated day per week of outdoor recreation and leadership education on the banks of Albert Park Lake, and all year-7 students undertake a leadership program starting with surf life-saving and sailing to develop teamwork, trust and leadership skills.
To cap it all off the College operates a number of sporting academies in partnership with various sporting groups and bodies ranging from basketball, netball, football to volleyball.
Music Program
APC is known for its strength in instrumental music. Currently, we have instrumental teachers offering piano, guitar, violin, cello, double bass, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, drums, percussion. More than 300 students take part in the program. We hire our own instrumental staff, many who are leading figures in the world of jazz. Our program is performance based because our students learn best in front of an audience.
As a participant in the APC Instrumental Music programme your child will receive high-level instrumental tuition. Students will also take part in a range of ensembles, performances, and excursions to significant musical events. They will have opportunities to collaborate with professional music organisations such as the Australian National Academy of Music, Generations in Jazz, The Malthouse, Melbourne Recital Centre, as well as many others.
Work will soon begin on a new campus in the Gasworks Arts Park that will provide a home for APC's music and other performance programs.
Arts
APC was created by community demand and reflects the educational interests of local families. For that reason, we have a strong focus on creativity and the arts––visual, liberal and performing. Our painting, sculpture, drama, dance, music and other programs are given strong prominence. Our graduates have gone on to enjoy much creative success.
